Public Transport

From the Maienfeld railway station, you can reach the Heidiweg by taking the Heidi Bus (PostBus), which operates on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays from May to October. The bus will take you closer to Heididorf. Check the SBB (Swiss Federal Railways) website for the most up-to-date schedule. A single fare on the Heidi Bus costs approximately CHF 1-3.

Walking

From the Maienfeld railway station, follow the red "Heidiweg" signs. The trail leads through the town, past vineyards, and up to Heididorf. The walk to Heididorf takes approximately 35-40 minutes. There are no tolls or parking fees associated with walking. Luggage storage is available at the Heidi-Shop/Tourist Information at Bahnhofstrasse 1.

Taxi

A taxi from Maienfeld to Heididorf takes about 3 minutes and costs approximately CHF 11-14. Taxis are available in Maienfeld, especially near the train station. This is the fastest way to get to Heidiweg directly from Maienfeld.

The Heidiweg (Heidi Trail) in Maienfeld, Switzerland, offers a delightful journey into the world of Heidi, the iconic character created by Johanna Spyri. This circular hiking trail begins near the Maienfeld train station and leads you through the charming town, past vineyards, and up to the Heididorf (Heidi Village).As you stroll along the Heidiweg, you'll be treated to picturesque views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The trail is well-marked with red "Heidiweg" signs, making it easy to follow. Along the way, you can explore the Heididorf, a recreation of Heidi's village, where you can experience what life was like for Heidi. Visit Heidi's house, schoolhouse, and even a small post office.The Heidiweg continues past the Heididorf to the Hotel/Restaurant Heidihof, offering a panoramic terrace to relax and enjoy the scenery. The trail then leads to the Heidibrunnen (Heidi Fountain) before winding back through vineyards to Maienfeld. The entire loop takes about 1 to 1.5 hours to complete, covering a distance of 6.5 km. The path from the train station to Heididorf is stroller-friendly.
