Getting There

• Hiking

  From Mandrare River, start your hiking journey by heading east along the riverbank. Follow the river until you reach a fork where the river splits. Take the left path that leads deeper into the forest. As you walk, keep an eye out for local wildlife and beautiful flora. Continue on this path for about 2 kilometers until you reach a clearing. Here, look for a marked trail leading uphill. This trail will take you towards Soanierana, where Cascade de Manantantely is located. After approximately 1 kilometer of uphill hiking, you should start to hear the sound of running water. Continue on the trail until you see a sign pointing to Cascade de Manantantely. Follow this sign, and in about 15 minutes, you will arrive at the stunning waterfall.

• Guided Tour

  If you are unsure about hiking alone, consider joining a local guided tour. Many tour companies in Mandrare River offer guided hikes to Cascade de Manantantely. Check with local lodges or visitor centers for recommendations. The guide will lead you along established trails, provide insight into local wildlife and plants, and ensure you navigate safely to the waterfall. Tours typically take a full day and include a picnic lunch near the waterfall.

• Local Transport

  For a less strenuous option, look for local transport services such as motorcycle taxis (taxi-brousse) that can take you closer to Cascade de Manantantely. Head to the nearest village and inquire about available rides. The drivers are familiar with the area and can drop you off at a point where you can start your hike to the waterfall. Make sure to communicate your destination clearly, as they may not be familiar with the waterfall's name specifically but can understand the location.
