Car
To reach Isalo Window by car from Sofia, start by heading south on Route 7 towards the town of Ranohira. Continue on Route 7 for approximately 200 kilometers. Once you reach Ranohira, follow the signs directing you to Isalo National Park. The Isalo Window is located within the park, and you will need to pay an entrance fee at the park's entrance, which is around 55,000 MGA (Malagasy Ariary) per person. From the park entrance, follow the marked trails leading to Isalo Window, which is approximately a 3-kilometer hike from the entrance.
Public Transportation
If you prefer public transportation, start by taking a taxi-brousse (shared taxi) from Sofia to Ranohira. The ride may take around 5-6 hours and costs approximately 25,000 MGA. Once in Ranohira, you can either walk or hire a local guide to take you to Isalo National Park, which is about 15 kilometers from the town. The entrance fee to the park is around 55,000 MGA. After entering the park, you can join a guided tour or hike to Isalo Window, which is about a 3-kilometer trek from the entrance.
