Getting There

Walking
If you are starting from the main visitor center in Acadia National Park, head southeast on the Park Loop Road. After about 0.5 miles, you will come to the intersection with the Great Head Trail, which will be on your right. Follow the trail signs directing you towards Great Head. Continue along the trail for approximately 1 mile, which will take you through beautiful coastal scenery. The trail is well-marked and offers several viewpoints along the way. After about 30 minutes of walking, you will reach the summit of Great Head, where you can enjoy panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean and the surrounding area.

If you have access to a bike, you can start your journey from the Bar Harbor area. Begin by biking along the Carriage Roads, which are accessible from various locations in the park. Follow the Carriage Roads until you reach the junction for the Great Head Trail. It will take you approximately 20 minutes to bike to the trailhead. Once you arrive, you will need to park your bike and proceed on foot along the Great Head Trail. The hike to the summit will take around 30 minutes, with stunning views awaiting you at the top.
