Car
If you are traveling by car within Hancock County, the most straightforward route to the Historic Preservation office located at 55 Capitol St, Augusta, ME 04330 is to take Route 1 towards Ellsworth. From Ellsworth, merge onto Route 3 and continue until you reach the junction with I-95 North. Take I-95 North towards Augusta. Once in Augusta, take exit 112 for Western Avenue. Follow Western Avenue until you reach Capitol St, then turn right. The Historic Preservation office will be located on your left. Parking is available on-site.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take the Downeast Transportation bus service from Bar Harbor to Augusta. The bus will drop you off at a central location in Augusta. From there, you can take a taxi or rideshare service to 55 Capitol St, which is about a 10-minute drive. Alternatively, you can walk approximately 1 mile to reach the Historic Preservation office, which may take around 20 minutes. Please check the Downeast Transportation schedule ahead of time for departure times and possible costs.
