Car
If you are driving to Carroll Homestead from anywhere on Mount Desert Island, start by heading towards Southwest Harbor. From Bar Harbor, take ME-3 South for approximately 8 miles. When you reach Southwest Harbor, look for the intersection with Route 102. Turn right onto Route 102 and continue for about 0.5 miles. Carroll Homestead will be on your left, located at 44.3036042 latitude and -68.3259078 longitude. There is free parking available on-site.

Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, you can take the Island Explorer bus, which runs seasonally on Mount Desert Island. Board the bus at any of the designated stops in Bar Harbor or other towns on the island. Make sure to check the schedule for Route 5, which services Southwest Harbor. Get off at the Southwest Harbor stop and walk approximately 0.5 miles along Route 102 towards Carroll Homestead. Keep an eye out for the entrance on your left. Note that the Island Explorer is free for all riders.

Cycling to Carroll Homestead can be a pleasant option, especially during the warmer months. From Bar Harbor, take the road along ME-3 South, which has bike lanes in some areas. It's about an 8-mile ride to Southwest Harbor. Once in Southwest Harbor, navigate to Route 102, and you’ll find Carroll Homestead on your left after 0.5 miles. Ensure you wear a helmet and follow local cycling laws. There are bike racks available for locking up your bike once you arrive.
