Bass Park: The Heart of Bangor's Outdoor Recreation

Getting There

• Car

  From any location in Penobscot County, head towards Bangor. If you are coming from the north, take I-95 South. If you are coming from the south, take I-95 North. Once you reach Bangor, take Exit 182A for I-395 East. Continue on I-395 East for about 2 miles, then take Exit 3 for Broadway. Turn left onto Broadway and continue for approximately 1 mile. Take a right onto Main Street, and after about 0.5 miles, you will see signs for Bass Park on your left. There is free parking available in the park area.

• Public Transportation

  If you are using public transportation, first check the local bus schedule for the BAT (Bangor Area Transit) system. You can catch a bus that goes to downtown Bangor. Once you arrive at the downtown terminal, look for the bus that heads towards the Broadway area. Get off at the stop closest to Main Street. From there, it is about a 10-minute walk to Bass Park. Follow Main Street until you see the park entrance on your left. Ensure you have cash or a transit card for the bus fare, which is typically around $1.00.

• Bike

  For those who prefer biking, there are bike paths available in Bangor. If you are coming from nearby towns, you can ride along the Penobscot River Trail. Upon reaching Bangor, follow the bike lanes that lead to Main Street. Once you reach Main Street, follow the road until you see the entrance to Bass Park on your left. Make sure to wear a helmet and follow local biking laws.

• Walking

  If you are already in Bangor and prefer to walk, Bass Park is accessible on foot from many downtown locations. Simply head towards Main Street and continue walking straight until you see the park entrance on your left. This walk should take about 20-25 minutes from the center of downtown Bangor. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and stay hydrated!
