Car
If you are driving from Mzuzu, take the M1 highway heading south. After approximately 25 kilometers, keep an eye out for the signs indicating the turn-off to Chikale beach. The turn-off is located near the village of Chiweni. Follow the dirt road for about 5 kilometers until you reach the beach area. The GPS coordinates for Chikale beach are approximately -11.61825 latitude and 34.3049993 longitude. Make sure to drive slowly, as the road can be bumpy and narrow.
Public Transportation (Minibus)
From Mzuzu, you can take a minibus heading towards Nkhata Bay. Once you are on the bus, ask the driver to drop you off at the Chikale beach turn-off near Chiweni village. The fare should be around 500 MKW (Malawian Kwacha). After getting off, you will need to walk approximately 5 kilometers along the dirt road to reach Chikale beach. Be sure to travel in daylight for safety.
Taxi (Private Hire)
If you prefer a more direct option, you can hire a taxi from Mzuzu to Chikale beach. This option is more expensive, with fares typically ranging from 10,000 to 20,000 MKW depending on negotiation. The driver will take you directly to the beach. Make sure to agree on the fare before starting your journey. The ride usually takes about 30 minutes.
