Car
If you are traveling by car, you can reach Chelinda Camp by taking the M1 highway from Mzuzu towards the Nyika National Park. After approximately 80 km, look for the signs directing you to the Nyika National Park. Follow the road to the park entrance. Once inside the park, continue along the main road until you reach Chelinda Camp, which is located at CR66+QJM. Be prepared for some rough terrain and possible wildlife crossings, so drive carefully. Ensure your vehicle has enough fuel before you set off as fuel stations are limited in the area.

Public Transportation
If you prefer public transport, start your journey from Mzuzu. Take a minibus or taxi to Livingstonia, which is about 30 km away. From Livingstonia, you can hire a local taxi to take you to the Nyika National Park entrance. Once you arrive at the park entrance, you'll need to arrange for a suitable vehicle to take you to Chelinda Camp as the roads can be challenging. It’s advisable to book this in advance. Be prepared for possible costs: the minibus fare to Livingstonia is around MWK 500, while hiring a local taxi could cost you MWK 10,000 to MWK 15,000, depending on negotiation.

Combination of Car and Hiking
For the adventurous, you could drive as far as the Nyika National Park entrance and then hike the remaining distance to Chelinda Camp. This option allows you to enjoy the beautiful scenery and wildlife along the way. Make sure to wear proper hiking gear, carry enough water, and plan for a 10 km walk that might take around 3-4 hours.
