Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving from Alor Setar, take the North-South Expressway (E1) southbound. Exit at the Yan interchange (Exit 178) and follow signs towards Yan. Continue on Jalan Yan for approximately 15 kilometers until you reach the Gunung Jerai area. Look for signs directing you to Batu Kapal, which is located at the summit of Gunung Jerai. Note that you may need to pay a small entrance fee for the park, usually around RM5 per person.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Batu Kapal using public transportation, take a bus from Alor Setar to Yan. The buses leave from the Alor Setar Bus Terminal and usually run every hour. The fare is approximately RM10-15. Once you arrive at the Yan bus station, you can hire a taxi or use a ride-hailing service like Grab to reach the Gunung Jerai area. The taxi ride will cost around RM25-30. Keep in mind that public transport options to the summit are limited, so hiring a taxi or ride-hailing service is recommended.

• Hiking

  For the adventurous, you can opt to hike to Batu Kapal from the base of Gunung Jerai. Start your hike from the designated trailhead, which is accessible by taxi or car. The hike is approximately 3 kilometers and can take 1-2 hours depending on your fitness level. Make sure to wear appropriate hiking shoes and carry water. There are no entrance fees for hiking, but ensure you have a map or guide to navigate the trails.
