  If you are traveling by car, start your journey to Tioman Island by heading to Mersing in Johor. Depending on your starting point in Peninsular Malaysia, you can take the North-South Expressway (E1) towards Johor. Once you reach the Mersing exit (Exit 253), follow the signs to Mersing town. The drive from Kuala Lumpur to Mersing typically takes around 4-5 hours, while from Johor Bahru it takes about 2 hours. Upon reaching Mersing, head to the Mersing Jetty, where you will catch a ferry to Tioman Island.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, you can take a bus to Mersing from major cities like Kuala Lumpur or Johor Bahru. From Kuala Lumpur, board a bus from Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS) to Mersing, which takes approximately 5-6 hours. Alternatively, from Johor Bahru, you can catch a bus from Larkin Sentral to Mersing, taking around 2 hours. Once you arrive at Mersing, walk to the nearby Mersing Jetty to catch the ferry to Tioman Island. Ensure you check the ferry schedules in advance, as they may vary.

• Ferry

  After arriving at Mersing Jetty, purchase your ferry tickets to Tioman Island. The ferry ride typically takes around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on the specific destination on Tioman Island (such as Tekek or Salang). The ferry services may vary, so it’s best to confirm the schedules and availability ahead of time. Ticket prices usually range from RM 35 to RM 70 one way, depending on the operator and the destination. Make sure to arrive at the jetty at least 30 minutes prior to departure to ensure a smooth boarding process.
