Getting There

  • Public Transport

    From Mellieħa, take bus line 44, 223, 225, or 101 to the 'Ghajn Tuffieha' or 'Ferh' bus stop. 'Ghajn Tuffieha' is the final bus stop and is a 10-minute walk to the park, while 'Ferh' is a 5-minute walk. A single bus ticket costs €2.50 during the summer and slightly less during the winter. A multi-day pass for one week, valid for any destination, costs €12.

  • Walking

    From Għajn Tuffieħa Bay, follow the coastal path northwards. The walk to the park's visitor center takes approximately 30 minutes, offering scenic views along the way. Note that the path can be uneven in places.

  • Taxi

    Taxis are readily available in Mellieħa and can take you directly to the park's visitor center. A taxi ride from the Mellieha town center will cost approximately €20-€25. Confirm the price with the driver before starting your journey.

Il-Majjistral Nature & History Park, named after the Maltese term for the northwest wind, is a protected area encompassing a significant stretch of Malta's northwestern coast. Declared a national park in 2007, it's a haven for nature lovers and history enthusiasts alike. The park's landscape is characterized by coastal cliffs, boulder screes, and a variety of geological formations, including blue clay slopes. This unique terrain supports a rich biodiversity, with over 350 species of wild plants, some of which are endemic to Malta.
