If you are traveling by car, head towards Għasri. From the central area of the Western Region, take the main road towards Victoria (Rabat) and follow the signs to Għasri. Once you reach Għasri, look for the coordinates 36JF+87W on your GPS. You may need to navigate through local roads, but they are generally well-maintained. Parking is available near the entrance to the hiking area.
Public Transportation
To reach Sand Waves using public transport, take bus number 41 or 42 from Victoria bus station towards Għasri. The ride will take approximately 15-20 minutes. You will need to get off at the stop closest to Għasri. From there, it's a short 10-15 minute walk to the coordinates 36JF+87W, following the signs leading to the hiking area. If you are already in Għasri, you can walk to Sand Waves. From the center of Għasri, head northwest towards the coordinates 36JF+87W. The walk will take approximately 20-30 minutes. Follow the local paths and look for signs directing you to the hiking area. Be prepared for some uneven terrain as you approach the sand waves.
