Once you reach the riverbank, continue walking along the trail until you see the signs for Bear Island. The hike to Bear Island will take approximately 30 minutes from the intersection.

If you are using public transportation, take the Metro to the Grosvenor-Strathmore Station. From the station, catch the Ride On Bus number 10 towards the Potomac. Ask the driver to let you off at the nearest stop for Billy Goat Trail. From there, walk towards the trail entrance. Once on the trail, follow the directions for hikers above to reach Bear Island.
