Choptank River Lighthouse: A Beacon of History

Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving, head toward Cambridge, MD. From US-50, take exit 42 for MD-16 toward Cambridge. Continue on MD-16 E. After approximately 10 miles, turn left onto High St. Continue straight until you reach Water St. Turn right onto Water St. The Choptank River Lighthouse will be located at the intersection of High and Water St, with parking available nearby.

• Public Transportation

  If you are using public transportation, check the local bus schedules for the Dorchester County Transit. You can take the bus to Cambridge. Once you arrive at the Cambridge Bus Station, it is approximately a 15-minute walk to the lighthouse. Head southwest on Race St toward High St, turn left onto High St, then turn right onto Water St. The lighthouse is located at the intersection of High and Water St.

• Bicycle

  For those who enjoy cycling, Cambridge is bike-friendly. You can rent a bike from local shops in Cambridge and ride to the lighthouse. From the downtown area, follow High St and then Water St, which will lead you directly to the lighthouse. Ensure you have a bike lock for when you arrive as parking is available for bicycles.

• Walking

  If you are staying in downtown Cambridge, the Choptank River Lighthouse is within walking distance. Simply head south on High St, and when you reach Water St, turn right. The lighthouse will be at the intersection of High and Water St. This scenic walk along the waterfront allows you to enjoy the views of the Choptank River.
