Getting There

  • Metro

    From Gaithersburg, walk to the Gaithersburg Metro Station (accessible via public sidewalks). Once at the station, purchase a ticket to the King Street-Old Town Metro Station in Alexandria. Board the Red Line train towards Glenmont. After approximately 30 minutes, transfer at the Gallery Place-Chinatown station to the Yellow Line towards Huntington. After about 15 minutes, get off at the King Street-Old Town stop. Once you exit the station, follow the signs directing you to Old Town Alexandria.

    From any location in Gaithersburg, find the nearest bus stop serviced by the Ride On bus system. Take Route 55 towards the Shady Grove Metro Station. From Shady Grove, transfer to Metro's Red Line train towards Glenmont. Ride for several stops until you reach Gallery Place-Chinatown, then switch to the Yellow Line towards Huntington. Get off at the King Street-Old Town station. Follow the signs to Old Town Alexandria, which is just a short walk from the station.

    If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike from a local bike-sharing service in Gaithersburg. Start by heading southeast on the path towards the Metropolitan Grove. Follow the path to the Washington & Old Dominion Trail (W&OD). Continue along the trail, which will lead you towards the Potomac River. Once you reach the river, follow the bike paths until you reach the Old Town Alexandria area. There are several bike racks available for securing your bike once you arrive.
