Getting There

• Bus

  From Waldorf, head to the nearest bus stop on Crain Highway (MD-5). Look for the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) bus # 301 or # 302, which travels toward Washington, D.C. Board the bus and pay your fare. Stay on the bus for approximately 30-40 minutes until you reach the Alexandria Metro Station. Once at the station, transfer to the Yellow Line toward Huntington. Stay on the Yellow Line for about 20 minutes and get off at the King Street Metro Station. From there, take the free King Street Trolley, which will take you directly to the waterfront area. Mt. Vernon is a short walk from the trolley stop.

• Train

  Locate the nearest train station in Waldorf. You can take the MARC train from the La Plata station. Board the Penn Line train toward Union Station. After approximately 30 minutes of travel, get off at the Alexandria station. Once you arrive at Alexandria, you can either take a bus or a ride-sharing service to Mt. Vernon, which is about 8 miles away. If taking a bus, look for the local bus service that heads toward Mt. Vernon and ask the driver for the best stop to reach the estate.
