From Waltham, walk to the nearest bus stop for the MBTA bus route 70 or 70A, which can be found at Waltham Station. Take the bus towards Alewife Station. After about 30 minutes, disembark at the Alewife Station. From there, transfer to the MBTA subway (Red Line) and take it towards Ashmont. At the Alewife Station, you will need to catch a train that goes to South Station. Once at South Station, switch to the Commuter Rail (Fitchburg Line) towards Fitchburg and get off at the Salem stop. The John Ward House is about a 10-minute walk from the Salem train station. Head east on Washington St toward New Derby St, then turn left onto Brown St, and you will find the John Ward House at 9 Brown St.
