Car
From Aoukar, head south on Route Nationale 1 (RN1) towards Nouakchott. Continue on RN1 for approximately 200 km until you reach the junction with Route 12. Turn left onto Route 12 and follow the signs towards Banc d'Arguin National Park. The park entrance is about 30 km from the junction. Expect the drive to take around 3-4 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions.
Public Transportation
To reach Banc d'Arguin National Park via public transport, first take a shared taxi (taxi-brousse) from Aoukar to Nouakchott. This journey typically costs around 1,500 MRU and takes about 1-2 hours. Once in Nouakchott, find a shared taxi heading towards the town of Nouadhibou, which will drop you off at the junction for Route 12. From there, you will need to hire a local taxi or arrange for a ride to the park entrance, which is approximately 30 km away.
Private Tour
Consider booking a guided tour that includes transportation from Aoukar to Banc d'Arguin National Park. Many local tour companies offer packages that include a vehicle, a guide, and sometimes meals.
