From Tagant, head northeast on the main road towards Chinguetti. Continue on this road for approximately 70 kilometers. Look for signs indicating Chinguetti, as the town is well-marked. Upon entering Chinguetti, follow the main road until you reach the center of town. The Chinguetti Mosque is located at FJ3P+WHM, easily identifiable as it is one of the oldest and most significant landmarks in the area.
Public Transportation (Bus)
From Tagant, you can catch a local bus heading to Chinguetti. These buses typically depart from designated bus stops in the center of Tagant. The journey may take around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on the road conditions. Once you arrive in Chinguetti, ask the driver to drop you off at the central area, where the mosque is located at FJ3P+WHM. It’s advisable to confirm the fare with the driver before boarding, which usually costs around 500-1000 MRU (Mauritanian Ouguiya).
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct and comfortable option, you can hire a taxi from Tagant to Chinguetti. Taxis are available for hire in the town, and the journey generally takes about 1-1.5 hours. Make sure to negotiate the fare beforehand; it should be around 5000-8000 MRU. Once you arrive in Chinguetti, the driver can drop you off at the mosque's location, FJ3P+WHM.
