Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving from central Bajio, take Highway 45D towards Guanajuato. Continue on this highway for approximately 2 hours. Once you approach Guanajuato, follow signs for 'Cerro de La Bufa.' You will reach a roundabout where you should take the first exit onto Avenida Juárez. Follow the road, which will eventually lead you to the base of El Cerro de La Bufa. The last leg of the drive will require you to take a steep road up to the summit where you can park your car.

• Public Transportation (Bus)

  To use public transportation, start at the main bus terminal in Bajio. Take a bus heading to Guanajuato. The journey will take around 2 hours. Once you arrive at the Guanajuato bus terminal, you can either take a taxi directly to El Cerro de La Bufa or take a local bus that heads towards the base of the hill. The local bus fare is approximately 10 MXN. From the bus stop, it’s about a 15-minute walk to the base of the hill, where you can take a steep path or road up to the summit.

• Taxi or Rideshare

  If you prefer a more comfortable option, you can hire a taxi or use a rideshare app from anywhere in Bajio directly to El Cerro de La Bufa in Guanajuato. This option is more expensive, with fares typically ranging from 300 to 500 MXN depending on your starting point. The driver will take you to the base of the hill, and from there, you can either walk or continue up by car, depending on the vehicle.

• Walking

  If you're already nearby and want to hike, once you reach the base of El Cerro de La Bufa, there are well-marked paths that lead to the top. The hike is moderately challenging and takes about 30-45 minutes depending on your fitness level. Ensure you wear comfortable shoes and bring water, especially during warmer months.
