Getting There

• Bus

  From Campeche, head to the 'Terminal de Autobuses de Campeche' (Campeche Bus Terminal). You can take a taxi or a local bus to get there. Once at the terminal, look for buses heading to 'Edzna' or 'Hopelchén'. Make sure to ask the ticket seller if the bus stops at Edzna, as not all buses will. The bus ride typically takes about 1 to 1.5 hours. When you arrive at the Edzna stop, you can either walk to the archaeological site (approximately 2 km) or look for a local taxi to take you there.

• Collective Taxi (Colectivo)

  At the 'Mercado Principal' (Main Market) in Campeche, find the colectivos that go to Edzna or Hopelchén. These shared taxis leave when they are full, so you may have to wait a little while. The ride to Edzna takes about 1 hour. Ask the driver to drop you off at the entrance of the archaeological site. The cost is usually affordable and you might meet other travelers going to the same destination.

• Tour Operator

  Consider booking a day tour from a local travel agency in Campeche. Many operators offer packages that include transportation to Edzna. You will usually be picked up from your hotel or a central meeting point. The guided tour will provide additional context about the site and its history, enhancing your visit. • Bicycle Rental

  If you are feeling adventurous and physically fit, you can rent a bicycle from a local shop in Campeche. From the city, head towards the south to connect to the road that leads to Edzna. The ride is approximately 50 km (31 miles) and offers beautiful views of the countryside. Make sure to bring plenty of water and sun protection, as the sun can be intense. It is recommended to leave early in the morning to avoid the heat.
