Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car from Acapulco, head northeast on the Autopista del Sol (toll road) toward Taxco. Continue on the highway for about 2 hours until you reach Taxco de Alarcón. Once in Taxco, follow the signs towards Atzala de la Asunción. After entering the town, keep an eye out for local signage directing you to Pozas Azules de Atzala. The final stretch may involve a dirt road, so a vehicle with good clearance is advisable.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Pozas Azules de Atzala via public transportation from Acapulco, take a bus to Taxco de Alarcón. Buses depart regularly from the Acapulco bus terminal. Once you arrive in Taxco, you can take a local taxi or a collectivo (shared van) to Atzala de la Asunción. Make sure to confirm the driver knows the destination. The taxi or collectivo ride should cost around 100-150 MXN, and the total travel time from Acapulco should be approximately 3-4 hours, including waiting time.

• Taxi

  If you are already in Taxco de Alarcón, you can hire a taxi to take you directly to Pozas Azules de Atzala. Be sure to negotiate the fare before starting your journey; it should typically cost between 200-300 MXN depending on your starting point in Taxco. The taxi ride will take approximately 30-45 minutes.

• Walking

  Once you arrive at Pozas Azules de Atzala, if you are interested in exploring the surrounding area, walking is a great option. The area around the pozas is picturesque with several trails leading to different viewing points. Ensure to wear comfortable shoes and carry water, especially if you plan on hiking.
