Getting There

• Car

  If you are travelling by car, start from the nearest major town, which is Urique. From Urique, take the highway heading northeast towards the town of Bahuichivo. The drive will take roughly 30 minutes. Once you reach Bahuichivo, follow the signs towards the Cañón de Urique. The road will become a dirt road as you get closer to the canyon. Continue on this dirt road for about 15 kilometers until you reach the viewpoint at Mirador Cerro del Gallego. Be prepared for a rugged drive, as the last portion of the road can be quite challenging.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Mirador Cerro del Gallego using public transportation, you will first need to take a bus from Urique to Bahuichivo. The bus ride will take approximately 1 hour. Once you arrive in Bahuichivo, you will need to hire a local taxi or a shared ride service to take you to the viewpoint. The taxi ride from Bahuichivo to Mirador Cerro del Gallego will take about 30 minutes and may cost around 300-500 Mexican Pesos. Make sure to negotiate the fare with the driver before starting your journey.

• Hiking

  For those who are adventurous and want to hike to Mirador Cerro del Gallego, you can start your trek from Urique. The hike is approximately 12 kilometers and can take around 3-4 hours depending on your pace. Follow the trail that leads towards the canyon, and ensure you have a good map or a local guide to help navigate through the rugged terrain. Bring plenty of water and snacks, as there are no facilities along the way.
