Getting There

  • Bicycle

    If you're in the town center of Tulum, you can rent a bicycle from one of the many rental shops. Head east towards the beach and follow Avenida Tulum until you reach the intersection with Avenida de la Playa. Turn left onto Avenida de la Playa and continue straight until you reach the beach area. Playa Maya is located in the Zona Hotelera, and you will see signs pointing towards the beach access points. It’s approximately a 30-minute bike ride.

  • Walking

    From the ADO bus station in Tulum, walk east on Avenida Tulum. After about 1.5 kilometers, you will reach the beach access points. Continue walking until you hit the beachfront. Once you arrive at the beach, head south along the coast, and you will see Playa Maya. This walk takes around 45 minutes to an hour, so make sure to wear comfortable shoes and stay hydrated.

  • Taxi

    You can easily find a taxi in Tulum. Simply tell the driver you would like to go to Playa Maya, located in the Zona Hotelera. The ride will take about 10-15 minutes depending on traffic. Ensure you confirm the fare before starting your journey; it usually costs around 100-150 pesos.

  • Collective Taxi (Colectivo)

    Head to the main road (Avenida Tulum) and look for a colectivo heading towards the beach. These shared taxis are usually vans that stop at various points along the way. Ask the driver to drop you off at Playa Maya or the nearest access point. The ride should take around 15-20 minutes and cost about 30 pesos. Just be aware that you may have to walk a little to reach the beach itself.
