Bicycle
If you're in Tulum town, rent a bicycle from one of the many rental shops. Head east on Calle Centauro Sur until you reach Avenida Tulum. Turn left (north) on Avenida Tulum and continue until it intersects with the main road (Carretera Tulum-Cobá). Turn right (east) onto Carretera Tulum-Cobá and follow the road until you see signs for Zona Hotelera. You'll arrive at Playa Ruinas after about 30-40 minutes of cycling.
Walking
From Tulum town, make your way to Avenida Tulum. Walk north on this road until it meets Carretera Tulum-Cobá. At the intersection, turn right and continue walking east. After about 1.5 to 2 miles, you will reach the entrance to Zona Hotelera Tulum. Follow the signs to Playa Ruinas, which is a short walk from the main road.
Public Transport (Collectivo)
Head to the collectivo station located on Avenida Tulum, near the intersection with Calle Centauro Sur. Take a collectivo heading to Playa del Carmen but ask the driver to drop you off at Zona Hotelera Tulum. The drive takes about 15-20 minutes. Once you arrive, follow the signs to Playa Ruinas, which is a short walk from the drop-off point.
