Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are starting in the Tulum town center, head east on Avenida Tulum until you reach the intersection with Avenida Coba. Turn left onto Avenida Coba and continue walking until you reach the main road, Carretera Tulum-Cobá (Highway 109). From there, you can either walk or take a bike along this road, heading towards the beach area. The walk will take about 30-40 minutes. Keep walking until you reach the entrance to the Zona Hotelera, where you will see signs for the beaches.

  • Bicycle

    Rent a bicycle from one of the many rental shops in Tulum. Once you have your bike, head east on Avenida Tulum and turn left onto Avenida Coba. Continue straight until you reach Carretera Tulum-Cobá (Highway 109). Turn right and cycle about 3 kilometers (approximately 15 minutes) until you see signs for Playa Ruinas. This beach is located within the hotel zone, and you can park your bike at designated bike racks near the entrance.

  • Collective Taxi (Colectivo)

    Walk to the colectivo terminal located on Avenida Tulum, just a few blocks from the town center. Look for the colectivos going to the beach or the Zona Hotelera. Get on a colectivo that says 'Playa' or 'Zona Hotelera' and pay the driver (usually around 30 pesos). The ride will take about 10-15 minutes. Ask the driver to drop you off at Playa Ruinas, or follow the crowd as they typically know where to go. Once you get off, walk towards the beach access points. The beach is a short walk from the drop-off point.
