If you are driving from a location in Western Mexico, head towards the U.S. border. The nearest border crossing to White Sands National Park is the Santa Teresa Port of Entry. After crossing into the United States, follow the signs for I-10 East toward El Paso. Continue on I-10 East for about 20 miles until you reach the exit for US-54 North towards Alamogordo. Take US-54 North and follow it for approximately 70 miles. As you approach Alamogordo, look for signs directing you to White Sands National Park, which is located about 15 miles southwest of Alamogordo. The park entrance is well-marked. Note that you will need a valid passport for border crossing and expect possible fees for park entrance (currently $25 per vehicle).
