Car
If you're driving, head towards Tulum. From Playa del Carmen, take the Carretera Tulum - Cancún (Highway 307) northbound. Continue for approximately 50 km (about 30 miles). Once you reach Tulum, keep an eye out for signs directing you to Yax-Muul. The entrance is located along the Carretera Tulum Playa del Carmen. There is no entry fee for parking, but confirm any charges upon arrival.
Public Transportation (Bus)
To reach Yax-Muul via public transportation, take a bus from any location in the Yucatán Peninsula (e.g., Mérida or Playa del Carmen) to Tulum. Buses frequently depart from major terminals. Once in Tulum, you can take a local taxi or a colectivo (shared van) to Yax-Muul. The taxi ride will cost around 100-150 MXN, while colectivo fares are generally cheaper but might require waiting for more passengers.
Taxi
If you're already in Tulum, you can easily hire a taxi to Yax-Muul. Taxis are readily available in Tulum. The ride should take about 15-20 minutes and cost approximately 150-200 MXN. Confirm the price with the driver before starting your journey.
Bicycle Rental
For the adventurous, consider renting a bicycle in Tulum. Many shops offer daily rentals. Ride along the coastal road which provides stunning views. It’s about a 10 km (6 miles) ride to Yax-Muul, and you'll experience the local scenery at your own pace. Ensure to have water and sunscreen, and be cautious of traffic.
