Discover the Historic Fletcher Site: A Glimpse into the Past

Getting There

• Walking

  If you are starting from downtown Bay City, head southwest on Washington Avenue towards the Saginaw River. Continue walking for about 0.5 miles until you reach the riverfront. Once you reach the river, turn left (south) and follow the riverbank. The Fletcher Site will be located on the west bank of the Saginaw River, approximately 0.3 miles from the downtown area. It's a scenic walk along the river, and you will see the archaeological site clearly marked when you arrive.

• Biking

  For those who prefer biking, rent a bike from one of the local rental shops in downtown Bay City. Start by heading southwest on Washington Avenue. Continue to follow Washington Avenue until you reach the riverfront. Once at the river, take a left (south) and bike along the path that runs parallel to the Saginaw River. The Fletcher Site is about 0.3 miles down the path on the west bank. This route is flat and easy, perfect for a leisurely ride.

• Public Transit

  If you prefer public transportation, take the Bay City Transit bus. Look for the bus line that heads towards the riverfront area. Get off at the stop nearest to the Saginaw River, and from there, you can easily walk to the Fletcher Site. Once you are off the bus, head towards the river and walk south along the bank for about 0.3 miles. The site will be visible on the west side of the river.
