Getting There

Walking
Start from the center of Grand Marais, near the iconic Gunflint Tavern at 300 W Highway 61. Head east along Highway 61 until you reach the intersection with E 3rd Ave. Continue walking along Highway 61 for about a half mile. As you walk, enjoy the views of Lake Superior on your left. Once you reach the intersection with E 10th Ave, turn left. Follow E 10th Ave until you see signs leading to Old Shore Beach. You will find the beach entrance on your right, just past the residential area.

Biking
If you have a bike, start your journey at the Grand Marais Recreation Area by the harbor. Head north on the paved bike path that parallels Highway 61. Continue on this path for about 1 mile until you reach the E 10th Ave intersection. At the intersection, turn left and bike along E 10th Ave. Stay on E 10th Ave until you see the entrance to Old Shore Beach on your right.

Check the local transit schedule for the Grand Marais area. Board the bus that heads towards the community center or the recreational area. Request to get off at the stop nearest to the highway intersection with E 10th Ave. From there, walk along E 10th Ave, and you will find the entrance to Old Shore Beach on your right.
