Getting There

Public Bus
From downtown Saint Paul, head to the nearest Metro Transit bus stop. Take the Metro Route 54 (toward the Mall of America) from either the 5th Street & Minnesota Street stop or the 6th Street & Minnesota Street stop. Stay on the bus for about 25 minutes, and then get off at the Snelling Ave & Fort Snelling stop. From there, walk south along Snelling Ave for approximately 10 minutes. The entrance to Fort Snelling State Park will be on your left, at 101 Snelling Lake Rd.

Biking
If you prefer biking, you can rent a bike from a local bike rental shop in downtown Saint Paul. Head towards the Mississippi River on the Samuel Morgan Regional Trail. Follow the trail south until you reach the Fort Snelling area. From the trail, you will find signage directing you to the park entrance at 101 Snelling Lake Rd. The biking distance is roughly 5 miles and should take about 30 minutes.

For those who enjoy a long walk, start at the Minnesota State Capitol located at 75 Rev Dr Martin Luther King Jr Blvd. Walk south along Rev Dr Martin Luther King Jr Blvd until you reach the intersection with Cedar St. Turn left onto Cedar St and continue until you reach Snelling Ave. Turn right on Snelling Ave and walk for about 1.5 miles. The entrance to Fort Snelling State Park will be on your right at 101 Snelling Lake Rd. This walk will take approximately 1 hour.
