Designed by architect Edgar Lucian Malvaney, the building was constructed between 1939 and 1940. The building's architecture is Art Deco. The building features cast-aluminum doors and panels that showcase battle scenes beginning with the Battle of Ackia in 1736. Inside, visitors can view displays of uniforms, weapons, maps, photographs, medals of honor, and other artifacts from the battlefields of the Spanish American War, World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.
