- Spring and fall offer the most pleasant weather for exploring the outdoor sites.

Driving
From downtown Natchez, head east on Main Street. Turn left onto Melrose Montebello Parkway. The entrance to Melrose will be on your left. Parking is available in the main lot. There are no fees for parking. From Jackson, MS, take Highway 55 South to Highway 84 West into Natchez.

Public Transport
The Natchez Transit System provides public transportation in Natchez. Contact them for routes and schedules to the park's sites. A one-way trip costs around $3. The Natchez Transit System operates Monday through Friday from 5:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.. Sunday transportation is available by pre-arranged subscription only.

From the Natchez Visitor Center (located at 500 Main Street during renovations), walking to the William Johnson House at 210 State Street is a short, approximately 5-minute walk. Head east on Main Street, then turn right onto State Street. The William Johnson House will be on your left.
