Car
If you are driving, start from the center of Current River. Head south on Highway 60 towards Van Buren. Continue on Highway 60 for approximately 23 miles. As you approach Van Buren, look for the signs for County Road M-127. Turn left onto County Road M-127 and follow it for about 2 miles. The Family Campground will be on your left side. Make sure to keep an eye out for the campground sign.
Public Transportation
Currently, public transportation options directly to The Family Campground are limited. If you are using public transportation, you may first need to take a bus to Poplar Bluff or another nearby city with more service options. From Poplar Bluff, you can rent a car or arrange for a taxi service to reach The Family Campground. The taxi fare may vary, so it is advisable to confirm the fare before starting your journey.
Bicycle
For those who prefer biking, you can rent a bike in Current River and take the same route as if you were driving. Head south on Highway 60, then turn onto County Road M-127. Be cautious as you share the road with vehicles, and plan for a ride of about 2 hours depending on your pace. Bring plenty of water and snacks for your trip.
Walking
Walking from Current River to The Family Campground is not recommended due to the distance of about 25 miles. However, if you are staying nearby and wish to hike, take the same route along Highway 60 to County Road M-127. It is advisable to start early in the day and be prepared for a long trek, approximately 8-10 hours, depending on your walking speed. Ensure you have proper gear and enough supplies for the journey.
