Discover more about YMCA

The Adair County Family YMCA is a cornerstone of the Kirksville community, dedicated to strengthening spirit, mind, and body. Originating from a local PTA initiative in 1963, the YMCA has grown from humble beginnings into a comprehensive facility serving over 2,900 individuals in Northeast Missouri. The YMCA offers a wide array of programs and services, including fitness classes, youth sports, childcare, and family-oriented events. With facilities like an aerobics center, fitness center, gym, indoor running track, and outdoor fields, the YMCA provides ample opportunities for physical activity and recreation. The YMCA also emphasizes social responsibility, offering scholarships to ensure that no one is turned away due to inability to pay. In January 1983, a fire devastated the YMCA facility, marking a turning point for the organization. The community rallied together, exceeding an $800,000 fundraising goal to build a new, permanent home on Jamison Street, which was dedicated on April 2, 1984. Today, the YMCA continues to evolve, adapting its programs and services to meet the changing needs of the community.
