Discover more about Willmore Lodge

Willmore Lodge, completed in 1930, stands as a testament to the ambitious engineering feat that created the Lake of the Ozarks. Built by Union Electric, the lodge served as an administrative and entertainment center during the construction of Bagnell Dam. Designed by St. Louis architect Louis La Beaume, the Adirondack-style lodge originally featured 29 rooms, showcasing state-of-the-art amenities for its time. In 1945, Cyrus Crane Willmore, a prominent St. Louis real estate developer, purchased the lodge. The lodge is now home to the Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, the Lake of the Ozarks Visitor's Center, and the Bagnell Dam History Museum. Visitors can explore exhibits detailing the dam's construction and the region's history. Beyond the historical exhibits, Willmore Lodge offers stunning panoramic views of the Lake of the Ozarks from its expansive deck. Guests can also enjoy a leisurely stroll through the curated walking path that leads to the lodge's lakeside gardens and a picturesque gazebo. The lodge is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
