Snelson in Dillon, Missouri, it is a hand-hewn log structure that served as the county's first courthouse.Phelps County was established in 1857, and the Dillon House played a vital role in its early governance. County circuit court meetings were held within its walls until the county seat was permanently located to Rolla. The decision to locate the county seat in Rolla was made in 1861.In the late 1960s, the Dillon House was moved to Rolla and transformed into a museum by the Phelps County Historical Society.
