    Rudi Monastery, also known as Rughi Monastery, is a serene monastic complex located in the village of Rudi, approximately 215 km north of Chisinau and 42 km from Soroca. Situated in the picturesque Rudi-Arionești landscape, not far from the Dniester River, the monastery offers a tranquil escape into Moldova's rich spiritual and architectural heritage.Founded in 1777, with the blessing of Bishop Inochentie from Husi, the monastery's Holy Trinity Church stands as a remarkable example of Old Moldavian architectural style from the 16th-17th centuries. The church features a flattened plan and walls nearly a meter thick. The bell tower is supported by a system of semicircular overlapping arches, known as the “Moldovan vault”.Throughout its history, Rudi Monastery has undergone numerous transformations. It was initially established as a hermitage by brothers Andronachi and Teodor Rudea with financial support from Donciul of Movilău. In 1846, it was temporarily closed and later used as a residence for servants. In the Soviet era, the monastery was converted into an orphanage and a hospital for children before being reopened in 1992.Today, Rudi Monastery is a nunnery that has preserved its spiritual essence. Visitors can explore the monastery grounds, admire the architecture of the Holy Trinity Church, and experience the peaceful atmosphere of this historic site. Nearby attractions include a natural cave with prehistoric remains, an exceptional nature reserve, and ancient fortresses.
