Discover more about Cathedral Park

Cathedral Park, also known as Parcul Catedralei, is a historical and cultural landmark in the center of Chișinău. Established between 1830 and 1840, its creation coincided with the construction of the Metropolitan Cathedral. The park has served as a focal point for major national and religious celebrations. Covering 9 hectares, the park provides a green haven in the bustling city. After suffering damage during World War II, it was renovated and, for a time, named Victory Park. Landscaping efforts introduced trees, shrubs, and flower beds. The park's centerpiece is the Nativity of Christ Metropolitan Cathedral, accompanied by its bell tower and the Arc de Triomphe. The bell tower, destroyed in 1962 during the Soviet era, was rebuilt in 1998 based on historical images. The park features a large open space and shaded alleys, with ornamental trees, some over a century old. Today, Cathedral Park remains a beloved destination for tourists and locals, offering a blend of natural beauty and historical significance.
