Discover more about Jardins Saint-Martin

The Jardins Saint-Martin are a stunning series of landscaped gardens perched on the cliffs of Monaco-Ville, offering a tranquil escape and breathtaking vistas. Inaugurated in 1830 during the reign of Prince Honoré V, they were Monaco's first public gardens. Overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, the gardens feature a lush collection of Mediterranean plants and flowers. Carefully landscaped paths wind through vibrant flowerbeds, aromatic herbs, and exotic trees. Hardy species such as olive trees, agave, and bougainvillea thrive in the mild climate. Benches and shaded alcoves invite visitors to pause and soak in the beauty of their surroundings. The gardens also serve as a cultural and contemplative space. Sculptures are scattered throughout, adding an artistic dimension, including a bronze statue of Prince Albert I, a pioneer in oceanography. The winding paths offer exceptional views of the sea and the Fontvieille district. The gardens also incorporate remains of ancient medieval fortifications and archaeological findings dating back to approximately 9,700 BC.
