Discover more about Monaco Museum of Prehistoric Anthropology

The Monaco Museum of Prehistoric Anthropology, established in 1902 by Prince Albert I, is dedicated to preserving and exhibiting the remains of early humanity unearthed in Monaco and its surrounding areas. Exhibits feature archaeological and paleontological finds, primarily from Monaco and neighboring regions in France and Italy. Visitors can explore prehistoric tools, burial remains, and fossils, including an impressive mammoth skeleton from Siberia. The museum also houses collections from further afield, including Egyptian artifacts and pre-Hispanic items. The museum serves as a research institute, conducting field excavations, laboratory studies, and publishing an annual scientific bulletin. It also hosts temporary exhibitions, workshops, and events.
