• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start from the nearest major town in Eastern Steppe, such as Sukhbaatar. From Sukhbaatar, take the A-5 highway heading southwest. Continue on the A-5 for approximately 300 kilometers. You'll pass through beautiful steppe landscapes and small towns along the way. Once you reach the Ömnögovi region, keep an eye out for signs leading to the Mongolian Plateau. The final destination is located at approximately 43.2107° N latitude and 103.1885° E longitude. Ensure you have a reliable GPS or maps app for navigation, as road signs may be limited in rural areas.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, you can take a bus from Sukhbaatar to the city of Dalanzadgad, which is the capital of the Ömnögovi province. The bus ride will take around 6-8 hours, and tickets cost approximately 20,000 MNT. Once you arrive in Dalanzadgad, you can hire a taxi to take you to the Mongolian Plateau. The taxi ride will take about 1 hour and may cost around 30,000-40,000 MNT. Make sure to negotiate the fare before the trip or ask the driver to use the meter.

  Another option is to book a guided tour that includes transportation to the Mongolian Plateau. Many tour operators in Eastern Steppe offer packages that include transportation, meals, and a local guide. This is a great way to ensure you have a knowledgeable guide who can provide insights about the area. Prices for these tours can vary widely, but expect to pay around 150,000-250,000 MNT per person, depending on the length and inclusions of the tour.
