Getting There

• Car

  From the center of Kherlen River Basin, head northwest on the main road towards Ulaanbaatar. After approximately 80 kilometers, look for the sign that points to Geser Sum Monastery. Turn left onto the smaller road just before reaching Ulaanbaatar. Continue for about 5 kilometers, following the signs until you reach the monastery. Ensure you have cash for parking fees if applicable.

• Public Transportation

  Take a bus from Kherlen River Basin to Ulaanbaatar; buses typically leave from the central bus station. The journey may take around 2 hours. Upon reaching Ulaanbaatar, you can either take a taxi directly to Geser Sum Monastery or use a local app-based ride service. The taxi ride will take approximately 15-20 minutes, and you should expect to pay around 5,000-10,000 MNT depending on traffic.

• Taxi

  If you prefer a more direct route, hire a taxi from anywhere in Kherlen River Basin. Negotiate the fare beforehand; the trip to Geser Sum Monastery should cost around 25,000-30,000 MNT and may take about 1 hour, depending on traffic conditions.

• Walking

  If you're staying nearby and feel adventurous, you can walk to Geser Sum Monastery from your accommodation. Make sure to carry sufficient water and snacks, as the area can be remote. Take the main road towards Ulaanbaatar, and after approximately 6 kilometers, you should see the monastery on your left.
