Getting There

  • Hiking

    If you are starting from the South Entrance of Yellowstone National Park, head north on the South Entrance Road. After approximately 10 miles, turn left onto the Grand Loop Road (also known as the Yellowstone Lake Road). Continue for about 15 miles until you reach the junction with the Lewis Lake Road. Take a left onto Lewis Lake Road and follow it for about 5 miles. You will reach the Lewis Falls parking area, which is well-marked. From the parking area, follow the short trail to the observation point for Lewis Falls. Be sure to bring water and snacks for the hike!

  • Hiking

    If you are at the West Thumb Geyser Basin, head east on the Grand Loop Road for about 10 miles until you reach the junction with the Lewis Lake Road. Turn right onto Lewis Lake Road and continue for approximately 5 miles to the Lewis Falls parking area. Follow the trail from the parking area to the falls. The walk is relatively easy, but be prepared for some elevation changes.

    From the Old Faithful area, take the Grand Loop Road heading south. Travel for about 16 miles until you reach the junction with the Lewis Lake Road. Turn right onto Lewis Lake Road and continue for about 5 miles to the Lewis Falls parking area. After parking, a short hike will take you to the scenic viewpoint of Lewis Falls.
