If you are taking public transportation, you can take a bus to Kotor from various cities in Montenegro. Once you arrive at the bus station in Kotor, you can either walk to the Old Town and then up to the fortress, or take a taxi to the base of the fortress. Keep in mind that the walk from the bus station to the fortress is uphill and can be strenuous.
