If you are traveling by car, start from the town of Gjakova in Kosovo. Head south on the R117 road towards the border with Albania. Once you cross the border, continue on the SH1 road towards Bajram Curri. After reaching Bajram Curri, follow the signs to Valbona. The road will take you through beautiful mountainous landscapes. Please note that some parts of the road may be unpaved and require careful navigation. Parking is available in Valbona village, which is the closest settlement to the river.
Public Transportation
To reach Valbona River using public transportation, take a bus from the town of Gjakova to Bajram Curri. The bus ride takes approximately 2-3 hours. Once you arrive in Bajram Curri, you will need to take a shared taxi or a minibus to Valbona village. The shared taxi or minibus ride takes about 30-45 minutes. Be aware that the frequency of transport may vary, so it is advisable to check the bus schedule in advance. The total cost for the bus from Gjakova to Bajram Curri is around €5, and the taxi/minibus fare to Valbona will be approximately €10-€15.
