Walking
Start at the Essaouira Medina, which is the historic walled city. Exit the Medina through the main gate, known as Bab Doukkala. Once outside, walk straight towards the coast. You will pass by several shops and cafes along the way. After approximately 10 minutes of walking, you will reach the beach. Continue along the promenade (Boulevard Mohammed V) heading south for about 15 minutes. You will see the large ramparts and the ocean on your left. Bab El Marsa is located at the end of the promenade, where the ramparts meet the sea.
Bicycle (if available for rent)
If you can rent a bicycle in the Medina, head towards the Boulevard Mohammed V. Ride along the boulevard, following the coastline. The ride will take about 10-15 minutes. Keep an eye on the road signs directing you towards Bab El Marsa. The landmark is at the southern end of the promenade, where the ocean meets the ramparts. Use caution while riding, as the path can be busy with pedestrians.
Public Transport (if available)
Check if local buses or shared taxis (known as 'grand taxis') are available from the Medina to the coastal area. If so, board one that is heading towards the beach. Inform the driver that you want to go to Bab El Marsa. Upon reaching the bus stop nearest to the beach, exit and walk towards the coastline. From there, follow the path towards the south along the beach until you reach Bab El Marsa.
