Hi, I'm Eve. Here are a few practical things to know before exploring Le Jardin Secret.
Local know-how to help you travel smarter and make the most of every moment.
Walking
If you are starting from the main square, Jemaa el-Fnaa, exit the square and head towards Rue Mouassine. It is about a 10-minute walk. As you walk, you will pass several small shops and stalls. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Rue de la Koutoubia. Turn left onto Rue de la Koutoubia, then take the first right onto Rue Mouassine. Le Jardin Secret will be on your left at number 121.
Local Guide
Another convenient option is to hire a local guide. Many guides operate in the Medina and can be found near Jemaa el-Fnaa. They can lead you directly to Le Jardin Secret, explaining the historical and cultural significance of the area along the way. This typically costs between 100-300 MAD depending on the length of the tour, and it's a great way to ensure you don't get lost.
Marrakech Tourist Train
You can also take the Marrakech Tourist Train, which has a stop near Jemaa el-Fnaa. Board the train and disembark at the Mouassine stop. From there, it's a short 5-minute walk to Le Jardin Secret. The ticket for the train costs around 30 MAD. After disembarking, walk towards Rue Mouassine, and you will find the entrance at number 121.
Ask Locals for Directions
If you're unsure about the directions, don't hesitate to ask locals for help. Most people in the Medina are friendly and willing to assist tourists. Just mention 'Le Jardin Secret' along with 'Rue Mouassine', and they will likely point you in the right direction. This option is free, but a small tip of around 10-20 MAD is appreciated for their assistance.
