Car
If you are driving, start from the town of Chimanimani. Head southeast on the main road, which is well-marked towards the Chimanimani Mountains. After about 20 kilometers, you will reach the small village of Nhamanga. From here, you will need to take a dirt road towards the park entrance. Keep an eye out for signs for Chimanimani National Park. The road can be rough, so a 4x4 vehicle is recommended. Upon reaching the park entrance, pay the entrance fee (approximately $5 per person) and continue to the parking area near the trailhead.
Public Transportation
If you are using public transport, take a minibus from the main bus station in Chimanimani to Nhamanga. The fare is typically around $2. Once in Nhamanga, you will need to hire a local taxi or arrange for a guide to take you to the Chimanimani National Park entrance. The cost of hiring a taxi can vary but expect to pay around $10-$15. From the park entrance, follow the marked trails to Monte Chimanimani, which is about a 5 to 6-hour hike.
Hiking
After reaching the trailhead at Chimanimani National Park, begin your hike towards Monte Chimanimani. The trail is marked, but it's advisable to have a local guide, especially if you are unfamiliar with the area. The hike is challenging and will take approximately 5-6 hours to reach the summit. Ensure you have enough water, food, and supplies for the journey. Pack a map or download an offline map on your smartphone for navigation.
